About
Thank you for visiting Vetted Word and Welcome!!
We're a unique platform for performance art in San Francisco, CA, in that we focus on a subject matter that we feel couldn't be more relevant to the times we live in now...
This subject is encapsulated in a word that many don't like, due to its many connotations and attached baggage through millennia of use... and one that others feel passionately about on an equal degree. It's sure to stir up some sort of feelings in you. The word? GOD.
Feel free to substitute with, Spirituality... The Divine... The Universe... Quantum Physics. Or simply Something Larger Than Ourselves. Vetted Word is a space to explore these notions from any perspective. In other words, for those of you who were wondering, this is not a Christian (religious or otherwise denominational) event or community. We're a space for people of all beliefs (or lack thereof) to explore El Biggie.
What's acceptable material? Frustrations. Joy. Exploration. Wrestling. What's not okay? Badmouthing. Condemning. While we want you to feel very free to convey your struggles and experiences, this is not a space to alienate others or express hate.
Key to our format can best be experienced during The Vetted Word Showcase (*more details below). Each showcase ends with a panel/discussion where performers/speakers are allowed a participatory space to reflect and discuss one spiritually focused topic with the audience. By creating a space for people of many beliefs, and backgrounds, our goal is to create unique synergetic events that bring people and divergent experiences together.
When we are not hosting 'The Vetted Word Showcase', we hold two other very unique events. The first is 'Living Room Liberation' and the second is 'Juicy Wordplay' a performance/writing workshop. All three shows happen on the first Wednesday of the month (*detailed information below). And all three shows, are geared towards ensuring that we're not just entertainment in the arts, but also have goals for growth and self reflection for the community.
This is going to be an exciting 2011! Please join us in this focused yet diverse format that brings a unique contribution to the spoken word community.
Cheers!
